Get to Know Us: Bookish Edition Tag

Original95file-1[287]

Hey, guys! We’re Arin and Katelyn, two college freshman who are trying (somewhat unsuccessfully) to balance our love of reading with a somewhat hectic college schedule. To kick off this blog, we thought we would do our first tag Tuesday with the Get to Know Me- Bookish Edition by booksandswordblog!

Arin’s Tag!

Favorite color and do you have the book in that color?

Blue! Yes, I have so many! But the first to come to mind is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Describe yourself in 3 book characters.

America Singer from The Selection (we’re both very indecisive), Lara Jean Song Covey from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (we both spend way too much time on Pinterest and craft when we’re stressed), and Klaus Baudelaire from A Series of Unfortunate Events (we both spend too much time reading and can remember random facts from what we read).

Hyped books yay or nay? If yay, what was the most hyped book you ever read? If nay, what was the most hyped book you decided not to read?

Yay! The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, which is now my favorite book series of all time. You can ask Katelyn, I talk about my love of Clary Fairchild at least two or three times a day.

Recommend one book per season. Spring. Summer. Fall. Winter.

Spring: Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff  Summer: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, Fall: Storm by Brigid Kemmerer, Winter: Heretics Anonymous by Katie Henry

Name one book that wrecked you emotionally.

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. This book kept me up until like three in the morning, all while I was snapchatting my friend pictures of me crying as I read the last few chapters.

Name a book that you always recommend to everybody you know.

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare! But before I discovered that series late last year, it was Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan, just because I’ve always felt that PJO serves as a good series to help get people into reading in the first place.

What book would you recommend with tea and cookies?

Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between by Lauren Graham.

What is your guilty pleasure book?

The Selection Series by Kiera Cass. I know, I know, the series is not the best but I love rereading the books and getting sucked back into all the drama and falling in love with all of the characters all over again.

Favorite desert and a book that reminds you of that desert?

Ice cream cake! Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, its sweet and makes me happy, just like ice cream cake.

Are you a procrastinator? What book have you been procrastinating reading?

Yes! For the longest time I was procrastinating reading The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare because I was not ready for Lord of Shadows to wreck me emotionally and because I did not want to wait to read Queen of Air and Darkness, but I recently broke down and read them. So I guess now I am procrastinating reading The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan because I’m not ready for it to emotionally wreck me.

Katelyn’s Tag!

Favorite color and do you have the book in that color?

My favorite color is red, and yes I have two Harry Potter books that are red.

Describe yourself in 3 book characters.

Baz Pitch from Carry On by Rainbow Rowell (we both push the people we love away), Harry Potter by J.K Rowling (because I’m a sad bitch), Idgie Threadgoode from Fried Green Tomatoes by Fannie Flagg (we both love adventure and honey).

Hyped books yay or nay? If yay, what was the most hyped book you ever read? If nay, what was the most hyped book you decided not to read?

Yay! Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, I can’t even begin to explain how in love I am with that book. I will talk about it any chance I get and I would protect Baz and Simon at all costs.

Recommend one book per season. Spring. Summer. Fall. Winter.

Fall: Harry Potter, Winter: All the Bright Places by Jennifer NivenSpring: Carry On, Summer: Fried Green Tomatoes by Fannie Flagg

Name one book that wrecked you emotionally.

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven it’s an emotional roller coaster and I cried in the middle of my English class. Tip: DON’T READ IT IN PUBLIC IT’S A MISTAKE.

Name a book that you always recommend to everybody you know.

Carry On. I will always recommend Carry On.

What book would you recommend with tea and cookies?

Fried Green Tomatoes by Fannie Flagg because the book itself makes me hungry.

What is your guilty pleasure book?

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer or Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien. It really depends on the kind of mood I’m in.

Favorite desert and a book that reminds you of that desert?

My favorite dessert is fudge and Harry Potter always makes me think of it when they are buying from the dessert trolley.

Are you a procrastinator? What book have you been procrastinating reading?

Yes I am 100% a procrastinator. I’ve probably been procrastinating The Mortal Instruments, Arin’s been yelling at me to read them because I only made it to book four a long time ago.

  1. Yaaaay welcome to book blogging you guys!! First of all: muggleroomates is the cutest site name and I love it. Also, I laughed at loud at the ‘and they were roommates’ tagline. GENIUS.

Arin I’m loving all the hype for TMI!! I adore that series with my ENTIRE heart and CoHF emotionally destroyed me tbh. Also, I’ve been seeing your updates on GR for The Selection and ohhh man that is the definition of guilty pleasure series. Honestly I had so much fun reading those, even if they’re kinda… not the best.😂

And Katelyn, UM NO WAY MY FAVORITE BOOK OF ALL TIME IS CARRY ON. I’m so happy rn. I feel like no one understands just how in love I am with it so this is the best thing ever. I’m counting down the days until Wayward Son!! I desperately neeeeed more Simon and Baz content!!

Can’t wait to see more of your posts in the future and I hope you guys love blogging 🙂
